My Story
A former yacht owner himself—both a Lagoon 450F and a Fountaine Pajot 60—Derek knows firsthand the joys and challenges of yacht ownership. Serving as chief technician aboard, he personally designed, installed, and maintained every onboard system, from solar power and electrical components to desalination, propulsion, and rigging.
Today, Derek applies that same hands-on, purpose-driven approach to yacht sales, guiding clients from first-time dreamers to seasoned mariners. His belief is simple yet profound: the best days of yacht ownership aren’t just the day you buy or sell—but every moment in between, spent on the water with those you love.

Derek Peter brings a lifetime of service, resilience, and ocean-born experience to every client relationship. Having served the citizens of Orange County as one of the youngest hires in both local Lifeguard and Fire Department organizations, Derek’s commitment to helping others runs deep. After sustaining injuries in the line of duty, he channeled that same determination toward his lifelong dream—sailing the world with his wife and their nine children. Together, they logged thousands of nautical miles, assisting others along the way and inspiring fellow survivors to pursue their own passage to freedom.
